Dana Pousty is a Ph.D. candidate at Tel Aviv University specializing in water disinfection. In the past year, her supervisor Prof. Hadas Mamane (head of water technology lab) and her Co-founded SoLED.
SoLED is a small portable device powered by the sun, based on UV-LED patented technology. The device can be connected to any standard pipe or filtration system. Once the water streams through the device it is immediately purified by the UV light, eliminating any kind of bacteria or virus. SoLED perfectly fits rural areas at scale as it is off-grid, affordable, and requires low maintenance and minimal human intervention. Our vision is to build the next generation of water quality control for developing countries through a connected network of SoLED devices that will provide global monitoring of water status and consumption in rural areas.
