Our strategy when it comes to digital is really to consider data as a new type of asset because we think that in the future, everything we do, every decision we make, should be data-driven. Arcadis North America is more than 100 offices. The standard common data environment today within Arcadis is BIM 360. On the Toledo project, it first started with that do not drink order. The city hired Arcadis to have them back on the drinking water as soon as possible. We work closely with the city at each submittal, making sure that we closely address anything and that they were reviewing along the whole process. For me, the concept stronger together has really proven itself in working in the cloud. Utilizing the cloud allowed us to interact instantaneously, consistently, and actually improve on the design. The project’s better, the deliverables are better. Being able to host everything there was able to save 1,000 hours and probably more. The risk assessment is reduced because there are fewer conflicts. We reduced the RFIs and change orders. Having the 3D models helped in the communication process both for us and for our clients. Being able to use Revit with all the different disciplines, architectural, structural, MEP, HVAC Being able to leverage tools like Civil 3D and Navisworks, we could run clash detection automatically in the cloud. In terms of efficiency, that’s a tremendous advantage. We have multiple users working in different pieces of the same model at the same time. That’s really game-changing. We really want to focus on resilient solutions for our clients and water infrastructure is critical for the resiliency of a city in the future.
