In this series of videos, a staff member of the Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) explains the technical steps in the process of treating wastewater (sewage) at a treatment plant in layperson’s terms. These videos were produced to assist leaders, board members and other decision-makers of wastewater utilities in small, rural communities in understanding what is involved and what it takes in terms of resources and expertise to treat wastewater for a community from the time it leaves the house or building of a customer to the time it is discharged back into a water body. These leaders can then make more informed decisions about the operations, maintenance, and expansion of their wastewater-treatment infrastructure. These videos are part of a multimedia package and are attached to an animated diagram showing the steps in the treatment process available at rcap.org/animations/index.html
